Our staff

We have 20 full and part-time staff, as well as 45 advocacy and counselling volunteers. Our counsellors and trainers are all lesbian, gay or bisexual and are all fully qualified or in the final part of their training.

The organisation is headed by its Chief Executive Officer, Tim Franks and is governed by a Board of Trustees.

Tim Franks – CEO

After a first degree in English Literature and Linguistics Tim trained as a Lawyer with special interests in Employment, Immigration and Welfare rights. After completing the Post Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course in 1994 he worked for, set up and managed a range of services for lesbians, gay men and bisexuals. These have included sexual health outreach in commercial and street based environments, groupwork, a family therapy service and youth counselling service. He founded the Nottingham LGBT Forum and was a founder member of the Nottingham Pride Committee. In addition Tim has lectured in Lesbian and Gay studies courses at Nottingham Trent University including Representing AIDS a cultural studies course on the HIV epidemic and an MA course in Queer Cinema. Most recently he was based in a Greenwich Drug and Alcohol Action Team (a strategic and commissioning team) as Alcohol Strategy Coordinator.

Desnee Cunnane - Counselling Services Manager Desnee qualified in 1992 as a humanistic and integrative psychotherapist and also has a Diploma in clinical supervision. She is BACP accredited. As well as private therapy work, she has worked in mental health for over 20 years in a variety of settings including voluntary organisations, social services and the NHS. Her roles have included groupwork, supervision, assessment, management of supported housing, and counselling. She is currently studying for a couple counselling qualification.

Howard Delmonte - Family Service Co-ordinator
Howard is a qualified couple therapist, group counsellor and arts therapist and set up and developed the Family Support service at PACE in 2000. He has worked within the mental health services in many settings for over 18 years as a therapist, supervisor, group counsellor and arts therapist. He has published articles on diverse sexuality, same-sex parenting and arts therapies in palliative care. He presently co-ordinates the PACE Family Support service where he sees a variety of parents and also provides training to social work adoption teams who work with same-sex couples.

Tim Foskett - Groupwork Manager
Tim is an accredited counsellor and group therapist with the Association of Humanistic Psychology Practitioners. Since 1995, with Alfred Hurst, Tim has led the sexual health groupwork programme for gay/bi men at PACE. He has trained in person-centred and existential counselling and groupwork at City University, counselling psychology at PHYSIS and humanistic integrative psychotherapy at Spectrum. Tim has worked in a variety of settings, as a trainer, counsellor, researcher and dance teacher. As well as working for PACE, Tim is a teacher of 5RhythmsTM dance and currently has a private practice in North London where he sees individuals and couples, and runs an on-going therapy group for gay men.
