Transgender

Background

PACE was created in 1985 to promote the mental health and wellbeing of lesbians and gay men and later the organization broadened its services to include bisexual people.

In 2006 PACE decided to start the process in order to be inclusive of transgender people.

Stages

We would like respond in an appropriate way to the needs of transgender people and ensure they receive a good service. For this reason we have decided to approach this in two stages, concentrating first on transgender people who identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual and then broadening this later in our business plan cycle.

At this moment

  • Currently all PACE services are open to transgender people who identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual.
  • All PACE staff and volunteers are being trained on transgender issues.
  • PACE is actively seeking to increase our diverse team with transgender volunteers who identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual.
  • We are developing our service delivery to transgender people.

Our Goal

By March 2008 PACE will be fully LGBT.
