For Individuals

One-to-one counselling and psychotherapy is for people who are facing issues such as anxiety, coming out, sexual identity, depression and relationship difficulties.

All of our therapists are lesbian, gay or bisexual or trans. They are all fully qualified or in the final part of their training.

Counselling and psychotherapy at PACE is supervised on a regular basis and follows the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy's (BACP) Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

We offer:

  • Daytime and evening appointments
  • Therapists trained in a range of different approaches

Low Cost Counselling (for City and Hackney residents)

PACE offers general counselling for individuals to residents of City of London and Hackney boroughs.  Clients using this service will be offered an initial consultation followed by up to nine 50 minute sessions of counselling, on a weekly basis.

Fees are based on your annual income.  You will be able to discuss this with your therapist in your initial consultation.

Fee paying Counselling and Psychotherapy

PACE's fee paying counselling and psychotherapy service is for residents of all London boroughs and beyond.  This is in response to ongoing demand from the LGBT community throughout London for counselling and therapy at PACE.  The only way we can provide this service is by making it a fee paying service.

Counselling and psychotherapy for individuals in this service may be short-term (6 weeks) or anything up to a year.

What happens when I make my appointment?

You will be invited to attend an initial consultation with one of our therapists to discuss whether counselling and psychotherapy at PACE would suit your needs. If not then we can suggest other organisations that could help you.  The more flexible you can be about your availability, the sooner we can usually find a therapist to work with you.

You do not need to be referred by your GP or an agency. You can self-refer.

If you require details of other LGBT organisations offering therapy or details of private therapists please contact us. We have details of qualified counsellors or psychotherapists from our referral network, all members of which have been interviewed by us.

All our counselling and psychotherapy is completely confidential. PACE has a confidentiality policy that your therapist will explain to you at your initial consultation.

We make every effort to provide you with a service of the highest quality and standard. If you are dissatisfied with the service that you receive, we have a complaints policy that you can access at any point.
