At PACE, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, or people who are exploring their sexual or gender identities, have access to a safe place to explore issues with a counsellor in a supportive and non-judgemental way.
Counselling is a form of therapy which offers people the chance to talk openly and honestly, in a safe and confidential space, to explore the issues they are dealing with.
PACE counselling service offers support to individuals who are LGBT, or who think they might be, and people who are experiencing difficulty in coming to terms with their sexual or gender identity.
We also provide counselling to same-sex couples who are experiencing any difficulties in their relationship.
What can I expect from counselling?
Some people feel that talking to someone in a safe place for LGBT people will allow them to explore issues relating to their sexual or gender identity. Types of things people have talked about in counselling sessions at PACE include coming to terms with their identities, relationships, coming out, substance misuse, dealing with anxiety and depression.
People are invited to an initial consultation with one of the counsellors, where with the counsellor they can explore whether counselling is the right option for them.
Through conversations with a counsellor, people can discuss their issues, and look at ways to deal with and resolve these issues.
